If you would like to speak at the BOE meeting, the district requires you to register. The link is not made available until the Thursday before the meeting. We will update the link here when it is made available to the public.
The Cherry Creek School District has refused to provide a hybrid model for any district meetings. By law the district is required to, at a minimum, record the audio of these meetings. You may request a copy of the audio recording by emailing the Superintendent's Executive Assistant, Gincey Mansfield, at [email protected].
Is the district partnering with parents? Is the district being transparent and accountable?
Requests from CCPAN sent to the Board of Education & Superintendent Chris Smith on 8/11/22:
August 11, 2022
Dear Board of Education Directors,
As stated at the Board of Education meeting on August 8, 2022, I represent many parents, teachers, and community stakeholders that are members of the Cherry Creek Parent Advocacy Network, and I would like to connect with all of you to discuss how together we can work on establishing district partnership with all families, curriculum transparency and accountability. We hope that our concerned teachers will be given the opportunity to return to a curriculum that is absent of political agendas and grounded in academic excellence that puts our student’s minds to work and equips them for a successful and prosperous future.
Our members would like to request the following:
1. We request all Board of Education, District Accountability and P.A.S.S. meetings be made available in a hybrid format and a video recording of each meeting be made available to the community.
2. We request that in addition to sending out multiple district-wide emails to inform parents of their right to opt their children out of taking the CMAS test, please send out district-wide emails to parents to opt their children out of participating in all surveys, exercises, and assignments in which students are required to select, state, and/or choose their pronouns, divulge their sexual orientation, values, and/or religion & beliefs.
3. In an effort to support our teachers and staff, we are requesting that the district provide information to all new hires and existing staff about the Professional Association of Colorado Educators as an alternative to membership in the Cherry Creek Education Association (CCEA) as many district teachers are unhappy with a majority of their dues being used to support one-sided political activity. PACE is a professional organization and unlike the CCEA, advocacy is geared strictly to education and all members receive a guaranteed $2 million in a named liability policy. Staff can enroll or disenroll any time, and membership follows them to any school even out of the state of Colorado for $16.50 per month. Please visit the PACE website at https://www.coloradoteachers.org/ for more information to share with your employees.
We hope the district will strive to partner with parents, pursue academic excellence, and provide a safe & challenging learning environment. I look forward to your timely response to the above requests. Wishing you all a wonderful day!
Sincerely,
Lori Gimelshteyn
