Library Books.

The Cherry Creek Parent Advocacy Network supports transparency & partnerships with families.  We know that parental involvement is essential for all students.  The district has continually denied our request to require parental consent for books containing nude and pornographic images, violence, sexual violence and pornographic content.

The Cherry Creek Parent Advocacy Network does not support banning books with diverse viewpoints, values or ideas.  We do support the use of age-appropriate materials and the use of maturity ratings to help families make informed decisions.  It is important to note that the depiction of sexual acts in literature is pornography.  The American Bar Association states that  "exposure to pornography harms children and youth by normalizing sexual violence, creating unrealistic expectations for intimate partners and relationships and increases the risk for addition."

Below is a list of books available in the Cherry Creek School District that may contain content that is developmentally inappropriate for your child.  We encourage parents to engage in conversation with their children to foster conversations about the books they are reading from the school library.

Please email info@cherrycreekparents.org with any additional books not on this list that contain controversial content that may not be developmentally appropriate for children. This list will be updated frequently. Please check back often.
