If you would like to speak at the BOE meeting, the district requires you to register.   The link is not made available until the Thursday before the meeting.  We will update the link here when it is made available to the public.

The Cherry Creek School District has refused to provide a hybrid model for any district meetings.  In addition, they do not provide a recording to the community unless requested.  By law the district is required to, at a minimum, record the audio of these meetings.  You may request a copy of the audio recording by emailing the Superintendent's Executive Assistant, Gincey Mansfield, at gmansfield@cherrycreekschools.org.
Is the district partnering with parents?  Is the district being transparent and accountable?

Requests from CCPAN sent to the Board of Education & Superintendent Chris Smith on 8/11/22:

August 11, 2022

Dear Board of Education Directors,

As stated at the Board of Education meeting on August 8, 2022, I represent many parents, teachers, and community stakeholders that are members of the Cherry Creek Parent Advocacy Network, and I would like to connect with all of you to discuss how together we can work on establishing district partnership with all families, curriculum transparency and accountability.  We hope that our concerned teachers will be given the opportunity to return to a curriculum that is absent of political agendas and grounded in academic excellence that puts our student’s minds to work and equips them for a successful and prosperous future.

Our members would like to request the following:

1.  We request all Board of Education, District Accountability and P.A.S.S. meetings be made available in a hybrid format and a video recording of each meeting be made available to the community.

2.  We request that in addition to sending out multiple district-wide emails to inform parents of their right to opt their children out of taking the CMAS test, please send out district-wide emails to parents to opt their children out of participating in all surveys, exercises, and assignments in which students are required to select, state, and/or choose their pronouns, divulge their sexual orientation, values, and/or religion & beliefs.

3.  In an effort to support our teachers and staff, we are requesting that the district provide information to all new hires and existing staff about the Professional Association of Colorado Educators as an alternative to membership in the Cherry Creek Education Association (CCEA) as many district teachers are unhappy with a majority of their dues being used to support one-sided political activity.  PACE is a professional organization and unlike the CCEA, advocacy is geared strictly to education and all members receive a guaranteed $2 million in a named liability policy.  Staff can enroll or disenroll any time, and membership follows them to any school even out of the state of Colorado for $16.50 per month.  Please visit the PACE website at https://www.coloradoteachers.org/ for more information to share with your employees.

We hope the district will strive to partner with parents, pursue academic excellence, and provide a safe & challenging learning environment.  I look forward to your timely response to the above requests.  Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Sincerely,
Lori Gimelshteyn

After waiting 16 business days for a response, we followed up with the Board of Education and the Superintendent via email on September 1, 2022 at 8:24 AM.  We also CC'd our lawyer:

Good afternoon,
I have not received a timely reply to the email below and am reaching out to request a meeting with a CCSD Board of Education Director to address the requests that I forwarded to the Cherry Creek Board of Education on August 11, 2022.

Please reply to this email or contact me directly at 978-886-0888 to schedule a meeting.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

We received a response from Interim Superintendent Corey Wise on 9/1/22 at 2:43 PM:

Hi Lori,
On behalf of CCSD and the CCSD BoE, I am following up regarding your email and 3 items,
1. Board of Education meetings, District Accountability meetings and PASS meetings will continue as they have been scheduled and implemented to be visible and open to the public.
2. While we support and would like to see all students take and try their best on the CMAS, we will not encourage opting out.  Statute prohibits districts from encouraging opt-outs of state testing is C.R.S. § 22-7-1013(8)(c).  That provision states:  A local education provider shall not … encourage the student’s parent to excuse the student from taking the state assessment.
3. The Board of Education does not provide information about labor organizations as part of their role and responsibilities.
Thanks for the email and I am available if you have further questions.

Sincerely,
Corey Wise
Interim Assistant Superintendent
Cherry Creek School District

Request for "clarification" was sent on 9/1/22 at 4:51 pm:
Dear Mr. Wise,
Thank you for your follow up.  Please provide a yes/no answer to the following clarifying statements/questions:
 1. The District will not make the Board of Education, District Accountability and P.A.S.S. meetings available in a hybrid format and a video recording of each meeting will not be made available to the community? (yes/no)
2. The district will not send out district-wide emails to parents to notify them of their right to opt their children out of participating in all surveys, exercises, and assignments in which students are required to select, state, and/or choose their pronouns, divulge their sexual orientation, values, and/or religion & beliefs? (yes/no)
3. I understand that the Board of Education does not provide information about labor organizations as part of their role and responsibilities.  The question I asked is  will  “the district provide information to all new hires and existing staff about the Professional Association of Colorado Educators as an alternative to membership in the Cherry Creek Education Association (CCEA)”.  If the district provides information on CCEA to new hires and existing staff, I am requesting that they also provide information about the Professional Association of Colorado Educators (PACE).
    1. Does the district provide information on CCEA to new hires and existing staff? (yes/no)
    2. If the district does provide information on CCEA will the district also provide information to all new hires and existing staff about PACE as an alternative to membership in the CCEA?     (yes/no)
Thank you for your time answering these questions.  Have a great evening!
 Sincerely,
Lori Gimelshteyn

We received a response from Interim Superintendent Corey Wise on 9/9/22 at 2:29 PM:
Hi Lori,

I have answered the questions previously and would like to ask if you are asking as an individual or as an organization. Thank you and have a good weekend.

Corey Wise
Assistant Superintendent
Cherry Creek School District

We replied to Interim Superintendent Corey Wise on 9/9/22 at 2:29 PM:

Hi Corey,
I am a parent in the district and, as I stated in my original email with these requests to the Board of Education and the District Superintendent on August 11, 2022, “represent many parents, teachers, and community stakeholders that are members of the Cherry Creek Parent Advocacy Network”.   To be clear, I am a parent in the district and the Executive Director of the Cherry Creek Parent Advocacy Network.  I am requesting these questions for myself and on behalf of many parents, teachers and community stakeholders in the district that are a part of our organization.

Your reply to my questions on September 1, 2022 did not directly answer my questions which is why I replied to you with simple yes/no statements to avoid any confusion about my questions or your answers.  Please simply reply with a yes or no answer to each statement below (that I provided in my email reply on September 1, 2022) before the next Board of Education meeting on Monday, 9/12/22:

-->Does the district provide information on CCEA to new hires and existing staff? (yes/no)
-->If the district does provide information on CCEA will the district also provide information to all new hires and existing staff about PACE as an alternative to membership in the CCEA?              (yes/no)
Thank you for your time.  Have a nice weekend.

Sincerely,
Lori Gimelshteyn

Days waiting for a reply = STILL WAITING!  District Administration has employed a deny, lie and ignore approach to partnering with parents.
